Floating workspaces add themed titlebars and a selectable default layout
dhh merged
ryanrhughes's floating workspace feature into the quattro development branch in omacom/omarchy#14482. Super + L now cycles through tiling, scrolling and floating, with a clickable layout mark in the bar. Floating windows receive themed titlebars with maximize and close buttons. The committed implementation also adds a default workspace layout while preserving individual workspace choices.
The implementation dropped its earlier minimizing Shelf and edge snapping before landing. dhh also corrected how the migration decodes existing web app launchers so titlebars can display their saved application names. A related package commit, omacom/omarchy-pkgs@9c81c8a705be, keeps titlebars disabled unless configuration enables them, preventing stray bars after a workspace leaves floating mode.

Glassy windows and bar backgrounds become appearance choices
dhh introduced and merged omacom/omarchy#14991 into quattro, adding Opaque, Transparent and Glassy window choices alongside Opaque, Glassy and Clear bar backgrounds. The accompanying commit separates transparency from the animations setting and preserves opaque windows for existing users who had animations disabled. These are development branch changes.
Review by greptile-apps[bot] identified a theme switch race and bar changes that could report success despite failed blur updates.
dhh responded by holding the theme lock while changing transparency and restoring the previous bar background when blur synchronization fails. Those responses are recorded in omacom/omarchy#14991:discussion_r4241034084 and omacom/omarchy#14991:discussion_r4241536469.
Caps Lock returns to normal while Shift switches input methods
dhh merged omacom/omarchy#14939 into quattro, restoring ordinary Caps Lock and moving Compose to Shift + Caps Lock. The related committed input method change, omacom/omarchy@dc50bbe5746a, lets a lone Shift leave an active input engine for Latin typing and return to it. Shift + letter and ordinary Latin typing remain unaffected.
greptile-apps[bot] found that the keymap compilation test could silently disappear when xkbcli was unavailable.
dhh changed the test to require it, as documented in omacom/omarchy#14939:discussion_r4239666159. The change makes a passing test run account for the custom keyboard option.
Session locking checks live state and avoids taking another lock
dhh merged omacom/omarchy#15020 into quattro to stop a second shell from taking over a session lock that another process may still hold. A separate quattro commit, omacom/omarchy@d1a614ce6629, makes lock requests read current lock state directly after a stale binding caused a pre-suspend lock request to do nothing.
greptile-apps[bot] questioned the recovery retry limit.
dhh explained that recovery deliberately gives up while another Quickshell or hyprlock remains, accepting a possible orphan behind the compositor's failsafe rather than taking a live lock. The reviewer accepted that tradeoff in omacom/omarchy#15020:discussion_r4241553575. Normal shell restart waits for the previous shell to exit.
Default applications shift toward Signed, Monologue and Omacut
dhh merged omacom/omarchy#14962 into quattro, removing OBS Studio and Kdenlive from new installations. The accompanying commit says Monologue covers recording and Omacut covers trimming. Existing installations retain both applications, and removing preinstalls no longer treats them as applications to uninstall.
dhh's separate quattro commit, omacom/omarchy@be7c7bf3785f, replaces Xournal++ with Signed in the base installation and preinstall set. Its migration installs Signed on existing machines unless the owner removed preinstalls, while retaining existing Xournal++ installations. The Signed package was also committed to the package repository's master branch.
One ARM installation image selects packages for the detected board
birkskyum opened omacom/omarchy-iso#258 on October 11 to replace separate board selections with one aarch64 USB image. The in-day commit omacom/omarchy-iso@72773f63ef29 puts every platform's packages in the offline mirror and lets the installer choose through the runtime's hardware detector.
ryanrhughes subsequently merged the proposal into the n1x development branch on October 15, outside this briefing's coverage.
Related commits preserve Snapdragon firmware from Windows before disk replacement and include modular platform drivers needed for USB, keyboard and display startup. birkskyum's October 11 comparison reported unchanged N1x package selections but a larger image. The proposal's current description records intermittent Yoga Slim 7x USB boots and says laptop installation, N1x hardware and GB10 hardware remained untested.
Surface Pro 11 kernel integration remains an open proposal
turbineBMW opened omacom/omarchy-pkgs#975 on October 11. It remains open at the October 19 state check. Its current description proposes integrating Surface Pro 11 support into linux-omarchy-aarch64, including input devices, cameras and power management; that description also contains later revisions and October 17 testing.
In the October 11 discussion, birkskyum reported a successful build and boot on a Yoga Slim 7x, with working input, networking and sound, while explicitly excluding suspend and Surface-specific testing.
turbineBMW then reported testing the recipe on a Surface Pro 11 with suspend, cameras, pen and touch working. These are contributor reports, rather than independent confirmation or a shipped kernel change.
Passwordless sudo packaging keeps grant renewal working across updates
The package repository's master branch received omacom/omarchy-pkgs@40ea1555f250, with ekollof listed as a participant and the author name attributed to Emiel (Andrath) Kollof. The change ships the passwordless sudo helper, security library, cleanup rule, revocation hook and package scriptlets together in settings-dev. Previously, an update could leave a removal marker that prevented further grants until reboot.
The package relationship now requires the security library as a capability, preventing installation of a runtime without its needed helper. Separately, dhh's quattro commit omacom/omarchy@3c1f7b780f8d refreshes the sudo indicator when grants change and uses a wall-clock expiry timer, including refreshes after failed changes.
Pear Passwords publishes a TLS verification fix
Pear Passwords 2.0.2 completed marketplace publication through omacom/omarchy-plugin-marketplace#10755. HANCORE-linux identified disabled TLS peer verification in its mandatory provisioning dependency.
dragosol responded with a patch enforcing peer and hostname verification, restricting requests to Apple HTTPS hosts and disabling redirects. The installer also rebuilds the affected image.
HANCORE-linux subsequently accepted the corrected source and rebuild path, retaining manual installation because of the native and root setup.
github-actions[bot] reported the updated snapshot published and verified. This verification applies to the exact marketplace snapshot and is not a security audit.
Semantic search publishes after protecting indexed documents
depletionmode's Semantic search submission, omacom/omarchy-plugin-marketplace#11062, reached publication after
HANCORE-linux found two local data exposure paths: a readable plaintext index and a model-server port race that could send private documents to another listener.
depletionmode changed storage to owner-only permissions and replaced TCP model-server connections with private Unix sockets that verify the child process identity before sending data.
HANCORE-linux accepted the reviewed fixes, and
github-actions[bot] reported publication. Setup remains manual and downloads the model and runtime with pinned hashes; marketplace verification covers the selected snapshot rather than constituting a security audit.
Screen Narrator adds languages, translation and PDF reading
uBruckhaus submitted the Simple Reader rename to Screen Narrator with 51 reading languages and optional translation, then advanced the target to version 0.5.0 with PDF reading during omacom/omarchy-plugin-marketplace#11075. The author reported screenshot-based page detection, automatic page turns and skipped page numbers.
HANCORE-linux identified editable shell fields that could trigger unbounded clipboard reads.
uBruckhaus replaced them with key-driven fields and explicit paste helpers with byte limits and deadlines.
HANCORE-linux accepted the corrected source, and
github-actions[bot] reported the updated snapshot published and verified. Runtime, model and service setup still require manual installation.
Calendar date grids avoid daylight saving time gaps
omacom/omarchy@d74d6ea249c5 was committed on quattro with omarchybot as a participant and the author name attributed to Omarchybot. It builds calendar grids using UTC dates instead of local midnight, preventing duplicate or misplaced dates where daylight saving transitions remove midnight. Calendar headings use local noon to avoid selecting the previous month.
The commit explains that Node and QML resolve missing local times differently, allowing the earlier tests to miss failures in the desktop's calendar. The revised tests guard against local-time grid construction and include Samoa's skipped calendar date.
