dhh opened a proposal to decode clipboard thumbnails, clipboard previews and media artwork near their displayed size. Its current description reports roughly 50 MB less shell memory after opening the clipboard on the author's machine, rather than an independently verified saving. The proposal opened during coverage and was subsequently merged by dhh into quattro on October 13, 2026. omacom/omarchy#15200
Review by greptile-apps[bot] identified two ways to lose the intended savings: PNG filenames containing .svg could take the wrong path, and extremely thin images could fall back to full-size decoding. dhh reported narrowing SVG detection and keeping the thin-image fallback bounded.
