Transparent bar sampling gets resource limits and fewer unnecessary runs
dhh merged
aholbreich's omacom/omarchy#14281 and
ryanyogan's omacom/omarchy#8307 into the quattro development branch. Wallpaper sampling now has memory, thread and time limits, with disk spill disabled and a smaller sampling canvas. The bar also stops sampling after unrelated state writes while continuing to respond to background and theme changes.
In background discussion on October 7, jandrusk urged averaging fine wallpaper detail instead of point sampling.
aholbreich reported that box scaling matched the previous resize result across 22 stripe cases and updated the implementation. On October 27,
omarchybot reported adapting the watcher fix to current quattro and testing both unrelated writes and background changes. Together, the changes address resource spikes and repeated work without relying on a wallpaper's file size to predict its decoding cost.
Agent usage keeps cached meters and explains stale data
dhh proposed and merged omacom/omarchy#16795 into quattro. Agents with only local history no longer receive empty subscription sections, although their history still contributes to the summary. When subscription limits cannot refresh, the panel retains the last known meters and explains the problem through an info mark.
greptile-apps[bot] found that failed Claude and Grok refreshes could still hide that explanation when status text was empty.
dhh replied that stale records now also use their help text to show the mark, while preserving the separate sign-in links.
Completed video downloads offer playback and editing actions
dhh opened and merged omacom/omarchy#16843 into quattro, adding Open and Cut buttons to completed yt-dlp download notifications. Open plays the video in mpv, Cut opens it in Omacut, and clicking the notification card still plays it. This gives downloaded videos the same editing shortcut as screen recordings.
Ventoy boot repair lands alongside installer navigation changes
emirb opened and merged omacom/omarchy-iso#348 into the quattro development branch. The live initramfs now finds Ventoy's mapped installation medium without requiring a missing UUID symlink and explicitly loads the loop module needed to mount the live root.
emirb reported QEMU boot measurements falling from roughly 32 seconds to roughly three seconds; these are contributor measurements.
The installer now highlights Full disk install first, retaining the overwrite confirmation. Escape from the mode screen returns to disk selection, and Escape on the disk list prompts again instead of ending installation. greptile-apps[bot]'s final review reported no new blocking finding and noted that the proposed Ventoy integration test had been removed from this change.
Surface Laptop 8 support reaches the edge aarch64 kernel
ryanrhughes merged
jdvmi00's omacom/omarchy-pkgs#1706 into master.
github-actions[bot] then reported publication of linux-omarchy 7.3-4 and its headers to edge for aarch64. The series adds Microsoft Surface Laptop 8 support, including display, backlight and an experimental Qualcomm USB4 router driver.
birkskyum asked whether the series duplicated Linux 7.3 patches;
jdvmi00 reported checking all 135 patches against upstream history.
greptile-apps[bot] identified a router shutdown interrupt race and incorrect Thunderbolt 3 mode selection.
jdvmi00 reported fixes for both, with dock replug and sleep testing on the laptop.
The contributor reports working core devices and a 40 Gb/s dock connection on the hinge-side port. The second port remains limited to USB3, dock USB3 devices reconnect after resume, and Thunderbolt 3 partners remain untested. This is an edge package publication, not evidence of a stable Omarchy release.
Native Wayland screensaver proposal addresses dismissal and locking
omarchybot opened omacom/omarchy#16800 to replace terminal screensavers with a native Wayland overlay on every display. The proposal remains open. It would dismiss on mouse movement, clicks, scrolling or keys, and coordinate dismissal with the pending idle lock.
greptile-apps[bot] found that a bound volume key during the launch grace could still lead to locking. The proposal's updated description reports a regression check for that case, and the bot's final scoped review judged it safe to merge. Separately, the package update attributed to Omarchybot was committed to master in omacom/omarchy-pkgs@46c30de80b7d, moving the screensaver to 1.2.0. Package preparation does not make the desktop replacement merged or stable.
Realtime audio proposal targets crackles and silent application kills
emirb opened omacom/omarchy#16824 to install rtkit across platforms and repair zero realtime budgets in running sessions before enabling realtime scheduling. The proposal remains open.
emirb reports that missing rtkit contributes to audio dropouts under load and zero budgets associated with silent application kills.
greptile-apps[bot] raised two sequencing concerns: the Quattro upgrade could install rtkit before repairing existing processes, and a portal restart failure could skip a final repair pass. Current descriptions, updated on October 28 outside coverage, say both paths have been addressed; the latest bot summary retains a Bash-style correction. Those updates provide current context rather than evidence of exactly when each fix landed.
emirb reports successful upgrades and reduced audio xruns on two machines. These remain author measurements supporting an unmerged proposal. The current description also leaves Flatpak clients dependent on portal behavior and records further limitations for some PipeWire clients.
Desktop VM testing is proposed for every pull request
emirb opened omacom/omarchy#16835 to run the full test suite inside a disposable Omarchy desktop VM for every pull request and push to quattro. The proposal remains open. It would upload individual test logs and summarize skipped and failed files, covering desktop-dependent checks that containers skip.
greptile-apps[bot] found that the test process could read installed release files instead of checkout files. Its later review reported the previous findings fixed, while retaining a timeout-loop style correction.
emirb reports seven files skipping in the VM compared with 64 in the tested container setup; these are proposal measurements, not an established required CI gate.
OmaBoy is published after companion security fixes
DinuPhan's controller widget submission, omacom/omarchy-plugin-marketplace#12511, closed after
github-actions[bot] reported OmaBoy published and verified through maintainer review. It supplies a controller HUD and key display for supported pocket controllers using a separately installed companion daemon.
HANCORE-linux identified an event-file migration that let an existing reader keep observing new controller events.
DinuPhan reported switching to fresh private files and atomic replacement. A subsequent review found that the binary installation could continue after a failed download or checksum check;
DinuPhan changed it to use a private temporary directory and stop on failure.
HANCORE-linux then accepted the reviewed commit's device permissions, event-file migration and installation fixes. The publication notice limits verification to the exact marketplace snapshot and explicitly distinguishes it from a security audit.
Wi-Fi settings submission draws a roaming command-execution finding
FlamingHalapeno opened omacom/omarchy-plugin-marketplace#13038 for a replacement network widget with saved-profile settings and optional automatic roaming to higher-priority networks. The submission remains open.
github-actions[bot] reported structural compatibility and an automated security baseline pass, each with a limited scope.
HANCORE-linux subsequently reported that raw network-name output could inject a record into the roaming scan and trigger Bash evaluation. Under the stated roaming and saved-profile conditions, the finding describes command execution as the desktop user by a nearby attacker without joining the attacker's network. The supplied review therefore identifies a concrete security problem beyond what the automated baseline detected.
